Project Overview

The stock market can be an incredibly disorienting place. Making wise trades is no easy feat. This project was informed by the issue of beginner to mid-level traders finding it difficult to quickly understand market sentiment when looking at options. Existing tools were complex, overwhelming, or costly.

Role

My role was the product designer on a cross-functional team of 5 (engineers and product). I also oversaw managing the design library with the addition of many new components.

Goal

Create an experience whereby traders can make speedier decisions with more accessible data.

Results

  • Improved usability (increased time spent by ~20%)

  • Faster decision making for users

    • Users mentioned "improved confidence in trading"

  • Positive reception from stakeholders — product managers, engineers, and CEO

Design System Improvements

  • Improved data visualization across platform: not just what the data IS, but what the data MEANS.

  • Consistency across different tools other than Options Flow such as: Research, Volatility, Portfolio, etc
